14 Oct Midfield Maestros: Ghana’s Thomas Partey Named Among African Quartet
Ghana’s post boy Thomas Teye Partey has been named among the top four finest defensive midfielders in the African continent after a stellar return to competitive football from his injury setbacks.
The Arsenal FC lanky midfielder powered the Black Stars of Ghana to 6 priceless points including back to back goals against Zimbabwe in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Having restored the lead for the Black Stars in the first leg at the Cape Coast Sports stadium, the lanky midfielder then scored the only goal of the game in the 0-1 win in Harare to keep Milovan Rajevac and the Ghanaians within touching distance of South Africa.
Goal.com, one of the world’s most celebrated football portal, culled four players from the African continent under the defensive midfielder that has the fearsome Iddrisu Gana Gueye, Frank Kesse and Wilfred Ndidi.
In a post on their official social media handles, the much celebrated news portal singled out the quartet as the finest performing stars for the defensive midfield role.
Followers were then asked to pick two players from the list to start in their team.
Thomas Partey carved a niche for himself in the Black Stars camp with consistent scoring run despite playing as a defensive midfielder in most of the matches.
